    Meet our Artists

  • Jeanne Shaw - Digital experience designer

Jeanne will exhibit her latest audiovisual project: "Botanibooth". Playfully explore the intelligence of plants. The electrical charges of the plants are used as inputs for sound and visuals. This booth-like setup is used for live performances, giving the plants a stage to perform. This project visualizes the intelligent and fascinating processes of the botanical world. Using digital measuring tools creates a connection and a better understanding of nature.

About the films

Film 1: “Chronicle of a summer”
French, English subs, 90 min.
Step back in time to Paris, 1960, where two visionary filmmakers embarked on a quest to capture the essence of everyday life. In one of the earliest attempts to portray reality on film, they sought to reveal the inner worlds of ordinary Parisians. What dreams and desires filled their minds? How did they define happiness?
This documentary invites you to traverse the decades and immerse yourself in the simplicity and authenticity of 1960s Parisian life. Were the people of 64 years ago truly so different from us? What thoughts and emotions did they harbor? Reflect on their experiences and discover the timeless threads that weave through the fabric of human existence. How do their lives resonate with your own, here in Amsterdam, 2024?

Film 2: “Babakiueria”
English, no subs, 30 min.
Imagine if history had taken a different path. What if the roles were reversed? How would our modern society have evolved? Babakiueria is a thought-provoking yet humorous mockumentary that delves into these intriguing questions. What if it had been the native Australians who colonized the white settlers? Furthermore, how do we depict 'other' cultures in film? Babakiueria boldly challenges the power dynamics inherent in the portrayal of different peoples and their traditions, holding a mirror up to ourselves and our society. It compels us to reflect on our own perceptions and biases, questioning how far we've truly come and how much we still have to learn. What can we learn from Babakiueria in Amsterdam 2024?
